What are the best skirts in plus size? The answer is, whatever you feel comfortable wearing!
Both A-line and pencil skirts are great choices! But, don’t rule out 6-gored skirts either.
Some women might be comfortable and look great in pleated skirts, while it is not right for everyone. It all depends on your body shape and your comfort level.
I want you to look great and feel confident! With the right skirt, any plus size woman can look fabulous and sexy!
Let’s take a look, first of all, at the ever-so-popular pencil and A-line skirts!
Which is the best skirt for plus size women? A-Line or Pencil Skirt?
Best Skirts Plus Size: A-Line
This cute skater skirt is a great choice for a plus size woman. The shape of the skirt is like the letter A, narrower on the top and fuller on the bottom. This is why it is called A-Line.
This shape is flattering to a wide range of figures. If you are like me, and bigger on the bottom than the top, this skirt is a fantastic choice for you. It flows gracefully over your hips and thighs, and the width at the hemline makes your legs look narrower too.
It is also an attractive choice for women with hourglass figures. Tucking your top in will accentuate your narrow waist.
If you have a figure that is rounder in the middle, you can wear this skirt by pairing it with a top that covers your tummy and accessorizing it to draw the eye up to your face. It is short enough to show off your gorgeous legs!
This skirt comes in black, navy or gray. It is available in sizes 1X to 3X.
Best Skirts Plus Size: Pencil
I will be the first to admit that this style skirt does not work for me. My hips, rear end and thighs are the biggest part of my body. This skirt does nothing but accentuate the very part of my silhouette that I normally try to conceal.
That being said, some women have lovely figures for this skirt. Yes, even plus size women!
For example, if you carry your weight on your belly, and have more slender hips and legs, you can look like a bombshell in this skirt!
One thing I really like about this particular item is that the waistband is made like yoga pants. This means that there is no elastic to give you the dreaded muffin top! The waist band is just going to gracefully lay over your curves. It won’t create unsightly bulges that will show through your top. An excellent choice!
This pencil skirt comes in eight color choices: Grape (shown), plum, eggplant, black, dark gray, light gray, salmon and coral. It is available in sizes 1X to 4X.
Best Skirts Plus Size: Denim
By now you all know how much I love Jessica London! Oh yes! She is my favorite designer of plus size fashions. You can see me modeling my favorite Jessica London denim maxi dress here!
Imagine my excitement when I found this awesome, A-line, plus size denim skirt! I just love this skirt!
For one thing, it’s got that fabulous vertical line running up the front. That is going to give us a nice, slenderizing effect, which I really do need on the bottom half of my body.
Secondly, (which you can’t see here, but if you click through to Amazon you can see it) the back is designed with a nice, straight yoke and large pockets which are well situation on the rump. This is going to give this skirt an attractive rear view.
If this skirt is made of the same stretch denim as my maxi dress, I am going to be very happy with it. It’s a nice, soft, heavy fabric with just the right amount of stretch.
It comes in seven delicious colors. In addition to navy and black, there are white, mauve, blue wash and a peach color called orange cream. There is also a purple, floral print. Very pretty!
There are a wide range of sizes available, from 12Plus to 32Plus. It runs large, so you should order two sizes down. Just about all of the complaints in the reviews were that the skirt was too big. So, do yourself a favor and order two sizes smaller than your usual size! That should fit just right!
